Practical Training in the 6B05210 – "Hydrology" Educational Program
Practice Program
1st Year: Geodetic Field Practice
Practice Duration: End of the 2nd semester
Location: Outskirts of Astana, left bank of Akbulak Canal, Astana Counter-Regulator, Nura River
Objective: To develop geodetic knowledge and skills among first-year students.
Main Tasks:
- Mastering the use of geodetic instruments (total stations, levels, theodolites, GPS);
- Learning measurement principles on polygons for hydrological research;
- Conducting geodetic measurements and analyzing results;
- Understanding the basics of geodetic mapping.
2nd Year: Hydrometric Field Practice
Practice Duration: End of the 4th semester
Location: Nura River valley, Lake Tengiz, Korgalzhyn wetland areas
Objective: To acquire skills in organizing and conducting hydrometric research on water bodies.
Main Tasks:
- Quantitative and qualitative assessment of main water flow characteristics;
- Measuring flow velocity and water discharge;
- Studying the hydrological features of water bodies.
3rd Year: Industrial Practice
Practice Duration: End of the 6th semester
Location: "Kazhydromet" RSE, "Kazsushar" RSE, TarGU, scientific research institutes
Objective: To develop professional skills in hydrological research, project planning, water resource management, and water quality monitoring.
Main Tasks:
- Mastering hydrological research methods;
- Analyzing hydrological characteristics of water bodies;
- Conducting water quality monitoring and control.
4th Year: Industrial Practice
Practice Duration: 7th semester
Location: "Kazhydromet" RSE, "Kazsushar" RSE, "Yessil Basin Inspection" RSE, "Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary" JSC
Objective: To gain experience in studying hydrological processes and conducting water resource monitoring.
Main Tasks:
- Familiarization with industrial processes;
- Mastering water resource management methods;
- Conducting hydrological research.
4th Year: Pre-Diploma Practice
Practice Duration: 8th semester
Location: Department of Physical and Economic Geography, research centers
Objective: To collect materials for the diploma project and conduct scientific research.
Main Tasks:
- Collecting information on the diploma research topic;
- Processing data and conducting scientific analysis;
- Applying hydrological research methods.
