Main Department Achievements
The achievements of the Department of Physical and Economic Geography are organized by research activity, education quality, professional development of the teaching staff, and student results at national and international levels.
Department Recognition
- In 2020, according to the results of the national ranking by the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University demonstrated high performance.
- Ten members of the department's teaching staff are members of the Kazakhstan National Geographic Society.
- Department faculty members participate in editorial boards of scientific and methodological journals, including the Bulletin of ENU.

Research Results and Intellectual Property
- As of 14 September 2026, department faculty members have 26 publications indexed in Scopus and 19 publications indexed in Web of Science; including Q1 - 5, Q2 - 9, Q3 - 4.
- In 2024, the department published 86 scientific works: Web of Science - 7, Scopus - 22, journals recommended by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan - 6, monographs - 2.
- Ramazanova N.E. and Ozgeldinova Zh.O. received utility model patent No. 8664 for “Method for determining soil erosion using GIS technologies”, 24.11.2023.
- Ayapbekova A.E. received copyright certificate No. 35358 for an electronic educational tool on criterion-based assessment methodology in geography, 03.05.2023.
Student Achievements in Subject Olympiads
2025–2026 academic year. The HydroSmart team from 6B05210 Hydrology won a first-degree diploma at the 18th National Student Subject Olympiad on 24 April 2026. Ташева Ерке Айдосовна won a first-degree diploma and Еркіналы Айкөркем Қайратқызы a third-degree diploma in the individual competition. Дрютов Константин placed third in the 2025 Geography Teacher Education Olympiad.

18–19 November 2025, ENU. The department hosted the 17th National Student Subject Olympiad in B052 Earth Science. Ten teams took part. 24–25 April 2025, Kyzylorda. The team from 6B01524 Geography Teacher Education placed second at the 17th National Olympiad hosted by Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University. Team members: Дрютов Константин Максимович and Аймаханова Асем Даулетқызы; supervisor: Шұлғаубаев Ернұр Қайратұлы. ENU news.
