Guest Lecture on «ESG Basics» with a Specialist from JSC «KazMunayGas»
On February 17, 2025, the Department of Environmental Management and Engineering hosted a joint guest lecture on the discipline «ESG Basics» delivered by PhD, Senior Lecturer R.M. Muratov with the participation of Diana Isniyazova, a leading specialist from the Department of Low-Carbon Development at JSC «KazMunayGas». First-year students of the «Ecology and nature management» educational program attended.
During the lecture, students became familiar with the principles and philosophy of sustainable development and explored the connection between ESG topics and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They also learned about the fundamentals of ESG strategy development in companies, their future role within this system, and the importance of ESG risk assessment, analyzing real-life examples of its implementation. The lecturer provided a detailed overview of international ESG standards, which serve as key guidelines for companies striving for sustainable development. Students actively asked questions about the prospects for developing sustainable technologies in Kazakhstan. The guest lecture served as an important addition to the theoretical course, allowing students to gain insight into real-world cases and challenges faced by large companies in their operations.
