2025. STUDY EXCURSION TO JSC "ASTANA-ENERGY" TPP-2

Within the framework of the Year of Working Professions, declared by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on February 12, 2025, 3rd-year students of the specialty "6B05208 - Ecology and Nature Management" L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University visited JSC "Astana-Energy" TPP-2, where they were given an introductory excursion of the work of the environmental protection department, boiler, turbine and chemical shops.  

The purpose of the excursion is to comprehensively familiarize environmental students with key aspects of the functioning of energy infrastructure facilities and their impact on the environment using the example of JSC Astana-Energy TPP-2. During the excursion, the students visited the environmental protection department, where they were introduced to the work of an ecologist at the enterprise, and demonstrated practical skills in conducting environmental research and analysis. The students became familiar with methods of monitoring and minimizing environmental pollution, studied how monitoring programs are implemented, and assessed the effectiveness of the technologies used at the enterprise to reduce the environmental load.

Particular attention was paid to understanding the operation of boiler units and other thermal power plant units that are sources of atmospheric emissions.

Students studied in practice the equipment and units that play an important role in industrial environmental control, and also learned about the mechanisms for managing pollutant emissions. Students also had the opportunity to see how an enterprise's compliance with legislative requirements and standards is assessed, and to understand what measures are taken to minimize environmental damage.

As a result of the excursion, students acquired important theoretical knowledge and practical skills that will be useful in their future professional activities in the field of ecology and environmental protection.
