The Institute's development strategy
The Development Strategy of the Institute of Natural Sciences of the L.N. Gumilyov ENU for 2026–2029 defines key priorities for transforming the faculty into a modern scientific and educational ecosystem that contributes to strengthening the technological sovereignty and environmental security of Kazakhstan. The Institute's mission is the generation and transfer of new knowledge and innovations in the field of natural sciences, as well as the preparation of a socially responsible and competitive generation of specialists.
The document outlines the main strategic areas of development:
-
Personnel Training: expanding innovative and multilingual educational programs, implementing dual education, and actively using distance learning technologies.
-
Science and Innovation: strengthening the status of a research center through integration with industry, developing interdisciplinary projects in biotechnology, "green" chemistry, and water security, as well as commercializing scientific results.
-
Human Resources Potential: increasing the percentage of faculty with advanced degrees to 90%, attracting leading foreign scientists, and developing "talent management" programs.
-
Infrastructure and Digitalization: modernizing the laboratory facilities, creating coworking zones, and implementing neural networks to optimize educational processes and resource management.
Special attention is paid to the gradual transition to academic and financial autonomy, which will allow the Institute to manage the budget effectively, attract direct investment, and strengthen its positions in the QS World University Rankings for the subjects "Chemistry" and "Environmental Sciences." The implementation of the strategy is aimed at creating an open center for advanced research, integrating the educational process, cutting-edge science, and business.
