
Students of the Department of Physical and Economic Geography Visited the A.I. Baraev Research and Production Center

On May 21, 2026, students of the Department of Physical and Economic Geography at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University visited the A.I. Baraev Research and Production Center for Grain Farming, one of Kazakhstan’s leading scientific centers in the field of agriculture.
During the excursion, the students learned about the history of the center, its main scientific areas, and ongoing research activities. They also visited the museum of the center and gained valuable information about the development of agricultural science and the history of virgin land cultivation in Kazakhstan.
Specialists introduced the students to research in plant breeding and crop production, the development of new wheat varieties, and the implementation of modern agricultural technologies. Particular attention was paid to the soil-protection farming system developed by Alexander Ivanovich Baraev and its importance in combating soil erosion.
The students also learned about the institute’s cooperation with farming enterprises, international scientific collaborations, and research projects. The excursion helped students strengthen their theoretical knowledge in agricultural geography, sustainable natural resource management, and the development of the agro-industrial sector.
The educational visit increased students’ professional interest and provided a deeper understanding of the development of agricultural science in Kazakhstan.
